Moment

Twenty-one year-old Tiger Woods took the golf world by storm in his first major championship as a professional. He won the Masters with an 18-under 270, beating the runner-up by 12 strokes.

Impact

With that victory, Woods became the youngest Masters champion ever and set the all-time scoring record. That major victory was the first in a dominant career in which he won 14 total majors, second on the all-time list behind Jack Nicklaus.
