- Date
2/11/1990
- Location
Tokyo Dome | Tokyo, Japan
- Moment
Buster Douglas knocked out Mike Tyson, the undefeated and undisputed heavyweight champion, in the tenth round. Douglas was a 42-to-1 underdog, but dominated the fight, except for one moment when Tyson landed an uppercut at the end of Round 8. His victory is one of the biggest upsets in sports history.
- Impact
Tyson’s undefeated record was tarnished, and he would be convicted of rape a year later. Though he did regain his world titles in 1995 when he was released, he never induced fear in his opponents like when he was undefeated. Douglas went on to lose the world title to Evander Holyfield in his next fight.
